Duo del Sol is an active chamber ensemble that has performed and commissioned works for the unusual instrumental combination of clarinet and English horn since 1996. The ensemble has performed at many American universities, Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, International Clarinet Association and International Double Reed Association conferences as well as in the Czech Republic and released a CD entitled Windward on the Centaur label in 2015.  The American Record Guide review states “…Duo del Sol boasts superb chemistry and intonation and creates a variety of fascinating colors…” Husband and wife team Dr. Henry Grabb and Dr. Karen Dannessa are Professors Oboe and Clarinet at West Chester University who have a wealth of experience performing solo, chamber and orchestral music.  They are also members of Quintsylvania Winds, the faculty wind quintet at WCU, and have both appeared with many regional orchestras including the Delaware, Reading and Harrisburg Symphonies.  Both completed the Doctor of Music degree at Florida State University.  Dannessa also has degrees from Michigan State University and Youngstown State University and has studied with Frank Kowalsky, Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr and Joseph Edwards and Grabb has degrees from Northwestern University and University of Central Florida and studied with Eric Ohlsson, Ray Still and Patricia Stenberg.
